Pogonophobia

Pogonophobia is a specific anxiety disorder and describes the extreme fear of beards. The affected person avoids any proximity to bearded people, touching a beard or even wearing a beard. This exaggerated fear is mostly due to a traumatic childhood or youth experience.

The word comes from the ancient Greek: pogo-, pogono- = beard and phobos = fear.
