Ligyrophobia

This specific phobia describes the pathologically extreme fear of loud noises. These are v. a. Popping noises (e.g. bursting balloons or bags, fireworks, pistol shots, thunderstorms, doors slamming, loud knocking, etc.). Thus, the person concerned avoids any situation in which he could be panicked by popping noises.
