Peloid therapy
Peloid therapy is a part of balneology. Peloids (Greek: pelos = mud), i.e. mud or healing earth, which are mixed with water, are used as a remedy. These are used as baths or packs. Peloid therapy is used for various clinical pictures, including osteoporosis, rheumatism, nerve inflammation, arthrosis, injuries and the aftermath of accidents, rehabilitation after orthopedic operations or even gout.
Both organic and inorganic peloids are used. The most common peloids are fango, peat, silt, mud, loam, loess, healing earth, chalk and sand.
