Gore-Tex
Gore-Tex is a breathable and waterproof material that is mainly used in the clothing industry. Gore-Tex has an airy and grid-like structure. The resulting pores are around 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water.
This makes the membrane very tight against water penetration. Body moisture, however, is excreted in the form of water vapor. When it was introduced in 1976, Gore-Tex was the first textile material that was both waterproof and breathable.
Gore-Tex consists of a multi-layer laminate. During production, ePTFE membranes are flexibly and permanently bonded to textiles, mostly polyamide or polyester.
Gore-Tex is used as a processing material in outerwear or in shoe manufacture. Gore-Tex is only processed by certified partners.
