In order to process information automatically, two requirements must be met: The information must be presented in a way that it can be processed automatically. In addition, every process to be mapped must be formally described down to the smallest detail.
Such a description of a system of courses of action, i.e. a process, is called an algorithm. A central area of algorithm theory is the development of correct algorithms that can be executed by the processing units, the processors.
