ZIP-Format

The ZIP file format is a compression method with which text and graphics
can be compressed and archived. It is characterized by an enormous compression ratio,
works with lossless compression and when transferring large files, it is converted to the previous
data reduction used. The files are compressed using the PKZIP program, which begins with the
LZW algorithm works and, depending on the file structure, achieves compression rates of well over 90%.
The companion program PKUNZIP is required for decompression.
