WAS

"Web Application Security", or "WAS" for short, is the technical term for a protection program that protects web applications and web services from attacks that take place via the HTML protocol.
With this form of attack, the aim is to penetrate the computer or block activities on the Internet.
The WAS concept includes technological, user-specific and network-related aspects that go far beyond configuration and programming.
This is precisely why a six-level model has proven itself for web application security. It takes all of the listed aspects into account and only considers the web application to be secure once all levels have been checked.
The security mechanisms of the firewall work on the transport and network level, so attacks can also be launched via the user base if the access criteria are met.
For this reason there is the web application security, which should prevent this.
At the user level in firewalls, it uses either Application Layer Gateways (ALG) or Web Application Firewalls (WAF), also known as Web Shields.
The task of the web shields is to detect and investigate security gaps in the server software and thus possible hack attempts.
Hackers are usually recognized by a pattern or faulty programming they leave behind.
If such an attack is detected, the web application firewall (WAF) immediately blocks access to ensure the security of the website and prevent new attacks.
