Hexadecimal system
The hexadecimal system is a base-16 number system.
The number symbols of the decimal system are used, i.e. the digits 0 to 9. However, these are extended with the first six letters of the alphabet A to F.
Hence, the method of representing base-16 alphanumeric characters is as follows: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 A, B, C, D, E, F.
The main reason for this is that there is no confusion and the hexadecimal system can be clearly recognized.
The number system plays a major role in EDP, especially in registers and memories, i.e. internal computer values, since these are usually given in hexadecimal notation.
However, it should be noted that no computer works in the hexadecimal system, only in the binary system.
