Hash function

A hash function is a procedure used in IT for searching and sorting.
It is also used to reduce and compress the computing effort and to encrypt data.
In the available memory area, the so-called hash table, the hash function assigns each key value to a specific position.
Thus, for an input value of any length, it supplies an output value (hash value) with a fixed length. According to this method, the input value is such that any change in the input data has a high probability of affecting the calculated hash value.
When encrypting data, the hash function, or its result the hash value, serves as the basis for the digital fingerprint.
Hash functions can be general, but they can also be designed for a specific key value.
