Hardware refers to all material components of the computer that you can touch.
That means all devices and device parts from the processor to the monitor and memory to the modem and printer.
However, computer hardware can only be used with the appropriate software.
In America, the original term for hardware was just ironmongery.
Today, however, it is a colloquial word for machines, as well as electronic and mechanical components and devices, among other things.
It follows from this that, for example, a staircase lighting device also has or is hardware.
