Freeware is free software that any user can use free of charge and without restrictions.
However, it is protected by copyright and for this reason may not be changed.
It is also not uncommon for freeware authors to charge a registration fee from users or companies that use the programs for commercial purposes.
Such a freeware program usually serves to increase the level of awareness of the programmer of the program or the software manufacturer.
For this reason, the term bannerware was also coined with this freeware.
With this concept, special attention is paid to the distribution of the software and not so much to the sale.
