Ethernet

Ethernet describes a locally limited, wired network for the exchange of data. In technical terms, this is referred to as a LAN network (Local Area Network). It was developed by Robert Metcalfe in 1972 and is today the most widely installed local data network. Data is exchanged in packets between the devices connected to the network (computer, printer, etc.) via the data cable.
