Main memory (RAM) are read-write memory components.
The data in it is volatile, i.e. this data is deleted after the system is switched off. The term RAM stands for Random Access Memory.
There are various memory technologies, RAM, DRAM, SRAM, SDRAM and RDRAM, which differ in terms of access time, i.e. the speed at which the data is transported.
