ATA is the definition for "Advanced Technology Attachments". The ATA are American Industry standards that describe the signal behavior and the protocol for the IDE bus system. ATA thus regulates the communication between PCs and storage media. Data transfer can be either between peripherals and main memory from the CPU or the bus Mastering can be realized. Bus mastering is the more effective alternative because the CPU is relieved by direct memory access.
