Playmate
The term Playmate was developed by the men`s magazine Playboy and stands for the photographic representation of a female model, which the monthly each published edition enriched. Founded in 1953, Playboy began in 1955 with a double-sided photo of the Playmate of the month in the middle of the magazine.
In the beginning the ladies were more or less clothed, later on the last covers fell off. At the end of each year, readers choose the Playmate of the Year from the 12 Playmates of the Month.
