Renaissance
The Renaissance (15th and 16th centuries) is an artistic epoch that emerged in Italy in the 14th century, absorbing the ideas of antiquity and was mainly inspired by contemporary scientific discoveries. The Renaissance took its motifs primarily from ancient mythology. Landscape and portrait painting were able to establish themselves as independent art genres. In terms of design, reference was made to the same extent to the balanced forms of ancient art. Aiming for a high degree of realism, Renaissance painters increasingly turned to ancient mythology and history while being dominated by anatomy, central and aerial perspectives.
