Rococo

Rococo is a style of European art that lasts from around 1735 to 1770/1790 as the final phase of the Baroque period. It was named after the rocaille, the most commonly used ornament formed in swinging shell shapes. Rococo painting is predominantly court and salon painting, which attempts to tell mythological stories with its delicate colors and pastels.

In Germany, Rococo painting was mainly influenced by France, and to some extent also by Italy.
