Russian blue

The Russian blue is a domestic cat breed. The Russian Blue has a gray-blue, short-haired and very dense coat with colorless hair tips, which causes a silver shimmer in the light. Rich, deep emerald green eyes stand out clearly against the body color. The body is medium sized, medium weight, elegant and muscular. Her head is clearly structured, not too long and not too short. This cat seems very balanced.

The Russian Blue is a very even-tempered and calm cat with a strong bond with people. It is the only breed of cat with a double coat. This means that the top hair is the same length as the undercoat. The fur is silky soft and has colorless hair tips, which is called "tipping" in professional circles. These colorless hair tips refract the incoming light and give this cat`s blue coat a silver shimmer.

The soft, short fur is ideally always slightly sticking out, does not lie flat and harmonises perfectly with the emerald green eyes. Their graceful posture, slender legs, medium-heavy body and large eyes are distinctive features of the Russian Blue cat. She has a clear view and a clearly structured head. Her breed-typical smile contributes to the friendly overall impression.

In the young animals, the eye color is usually not yet pronounced. All kittens are born with blue eyes. The eye color normally changes from blue to green.
