Oregon Rex

According to reports, the first cats are said to have existed as early as 1944 and were said to have exhibited typical Oregon Rex characteristics. The occurrence of an Oregon Rex cat has only been documented since 1959 in a house cat litter in the state of Oregon (USA). The kitten was distinguished by its peculiar curly coat shape from the rest of the non-curly litter and from the mother, who also had a straight coat. The characteristically curled coat is silky, short and close-fitting and has no or only a barely existing top coat. The guard hairs are more pronounced than in the German Rex or the Cornish Rex cat.

The head shape is wedge-shaped and has an elongated bridge of the nose. The ears are large and gently rounded at the tips. The eyes are medium sized and oval shaped.

The Oregon Rex is elongated and has a slender build. Their tail is long and slender, tapering to a point at the end. The Oregon Rex`s legs are long, slender, and graceful, with dainty, rounded but not too small paws.
