LaPerm Shorthair

Breed characteristics: The wavy or curly coat is one of the most important distinguishing features compared to other cat breeds. It can vary from a wavy coat to ringed curls and from short to long.

Some puppies are born bald. However, most have short, wavy hair when they are born. Sometimes the puppies are completely bald even after they are two weeks old. Some change their coat with a temporary baldness within the first four months of life.

So La Perm can be born with three different hair types. The most desired is the wavy or curly coat, abbreviation BC (Born Curled) is used for this. If the hair is straight and not curly, the abbreviation BS (Born Straight) is used. As a last resort, the kitten can also be born bald, and a coat will develop within the first few weeks. These kittens get the suffix BB (Born Bald).
The breed requires little grooming, is not prone to matting and sheds little.

The coat can vary in length and thickness on both the long-haired and short-haired variants, depending on the season and the age of the cat. Both males and female cats of the longhair variety can acquire a full collar when they are adults.
The LaPerm`s snout and head are relatively triangular in shape, with wide-set ears, full whisker pads, and large eyes. She has completely curled whiskers.
Males usually weigh between 3 and 5 kg and females between 2.5 and 4 kg.
