Persian cat

The Persian cat is probably one of the most well-known pedigree cats and only shares common characteristics with colourpoints and exotic shorthair cats. These three differ only in coat characteristics such as length, color, and texture.

Character

The house tiger is becoming more and more popular because of its long fur and comfortable nature.
Because of her quiet and shy nature, she is easy to keep without running around.
Their desire for freedom is low, which is to the breed`s advantage, as their fur is prone to matting and burrs.
Because of this, the Persian cat is classified as requiring a lot of care.
The Persian loves to be stroked, but only in moderation. This breed does not appreciate too many cuddles. Otherwise, the Persian cat is very gentle and affectionate.

Origin

The original Persian cat is a cross between the Persian longhair cat and the Angora.
However, today`s Persian cats cannot be compared to those of yesteryear.
Over time, the breed has been bred smaller and shorter, its head flatter and rounder, and its coat ever more luxuriant and with more undercoat.
In America, mass breeding began in 1970. However, this was not to the advantage of the Persian breed, as more and more changes occurred through the sale to Europe.
Only about 20 years ago it was again possible to breed perfectly healthy Persians corresponding to the breed standard. Since then, new colors have been tried.
