The regional code designates the identifier for the country in which a DVD can be played.

Here is an overview of the applicable regional codes:

• Region Code 1 - Canada, USA and US Territories
• Region code 2 - Europe, South Africa, Egypt, Greenland, Japan and Middle East
• Region code 3 - Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Southeast Asia and Philippines
• Region code 4 - Mexico, South America, Central America, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand
• Region code 5 - Africa, India, Eastern Europe, Russia and other countries of the former USSR
• Region code 6 - People`s Republic of China
