Sam Snead, a golfing great and seven-time major winner, won a record 82 tournaments on the North American PGA TOUR and an additional 70 worldwide during his golfing career.

He was also successful three times at the Masters, once at the Open Championship and three times the PGA Championship.
Unfortunately, Sam Snead failed to win the US Open title, which is widely regarded as a checkpoint in his track record.

In 1937, 1947, 1949, 1951, 1953, 1955 and 1959, Snead was a member of the US Ryder Cup team.
He also played as a playing captain in 1959 and as a non-playing captain 10 years later in 1969.

Even in old age he could still impress and as a senior he achieved one success after the other.
At 62, Sam Snead finished third in the PGA Championship, three shots behind.
Even at the age of 72, he still managed to hit a round of 60s.

Sam Snead was a very down to earth person and always stood out with his country demeanor and demeanor. His trademark was his straw hat and it often happened that he simply played barefoot in a golf tournament. His unique style was usually accompanied by sayings such as: "Keep your pennies together, stay off the whiskey, and never gift a putt."
Until shortly before his death in 2002, Sam Snead would tee off at the Masters with two other great golf legends, Byron Nelson and Gene Sarazen, at the Augusta National Golf Club.
