Career

Gary Player, joined the North American PGA Tour in 1950, two years later he was making the money list and had a total of 24 wins. In total, he traveled more than 22 million kilometers worldwide and won over 160 tournaments.
Not surprisingly, among the wins were 9 majors and other record streaks and sizable trophies.
One of his great achievements was that he was the only golfer of the 20th century to win the Open Championship in three different decades. He also became the oldest player to make the cut in the Masters, breaking Sam Snead`s record in 1998.

He can also claim to have scored a round under 60 - a 59 - at the 1974 Brazilian Open, making him the only person to do so at a National Open.

Due to his nationality as a South African he could not compete in the Ryder Cup and unfortunately when the new Presidents Cup was launched Garry Player was already too old.
But in the end he was allowed to act as captain there in 2003 and 2005.

As a senior, Gary Player started playing in 1985 and won his first tournament in the same year, on the Champions Tour. He was also very successful as a senior, staying in the top 10 money list through 1990 and earning 6 senior majors.
Combined, Gary Player won 9 majors in the senior division.

Like most great golfers, Player is also a sought-after golf course designer and with 200 projects worldwide cannot complain.
He is still active in golf and runs an organization covering a wide range of golf, Black Knight International.
He also supports social projects, founded his own foundation apart from golf, with the intention of enabling children and young people worldwide to receive an education and, of course, the construction of schools.
