Jupiter has a diameter of 142,984 km. Its distance from the Earth is 588-967 million km and from the Sun 740-815 million km. Its rotation is 9 hours and 55 minutes and its orbital period around the Sun is 11 years and 316 days.

It is the largest planet in our solar system and, like the sun, it is liquid, composed of hydrogen and helium. Its atmosphere consists of sulphur. At the equator it has striped clouds, which are yellow to brown.
