Search engine marketing is derived from the English term Search Engine Marketing, or SEM for short, and includes all measures to attract qualified visitors to a website via web search engines.
Tools such as search engine optimization and search engine advertising are used for successful search engine marketing. The main goal of search engine marketing is to get a good listing of the website on the search engine results pages for a search query. With search engine advertising through the purchase of paid listings, one can increase the listing in search engines even further.
