Erzgebirge
The Ore Mountains form the natural border between Saxony and Bohemia. The state border between the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany runs just north of the ridge line.
The Ore Mountains are 40 km wide on average and stretch over a distance of approx. 150 km.
The highest elevation of the Ore Mountains is on Czech territory. The Klínovec (German: Keilberg) has a height of 1244 m. In Saxony, the Fichtelberg (1215 m) is the second highest point in the low mountain range.
A distinction is made between the western and eastern Ore Mountains, which are characterized by the so-called Flöhalinie, the river Flöha in the east; to be separated.
