Scottish Fold Shorthair
The story of the fold-eared cat began in 1961 when a white fold-eared cat was born on a farm near Coupar Angus in Scotland. Her parents were ordinary cats, her folded ears the result of a spontaneous mutation. The Scottish Fold cats are descended from this cat.
The fact that the breed continues to exist is due to the breeders from the USA, since they paid attention to genetics when breeding. The Folds are particularly popular in the USA, but are also bred in Europe, Germany, Russia and Australia.
The Scottish Fold cat`s unique forward and downward folded ears are hereditary in nature. The cats are born with normal ears, but after four weeks these no longer grow in height but bend forward. This gives the cat a particularly attractive facial expression, as does the round head and large round eyes. Her body is stocky with strong legs and a thick tail.
