Chartreux

The Chartreux cat is a French pedigree cat. These are the real Carthusian cats.

The Chartreux cat is originally from the mountains of Syria. In the 13th century it was brought to Europe under the names: Syrian cat, Malta cat, Cyprus cat.

The Chartreux is strong and appears muscular. The tomcat is bigger than the she-cat. The skull and muzzle are well defined in both, as is the thorax. The head is trapezoidal. In the hangover, the cheeks surround the face like a hood. The medium-sized ears are set comparatively high and close together, and are erect, giving the face an alert expression. The slightly slanted eyes have an intense yellow color. The fur is solid blue-grey, dense, short and slightly woolly. Green eyes, long hair and white spots count as faults.
