La Perm Longhair

La Perm Longhair is a fairly young cat breed, which originates from the USA (Oregon).

Emergence

The La Perm cat originated near Dallas due to a spontaneous mutation.
An ordinary domestic cat had a litter of six kittens in 1982, one
animal was completely bald at first, but had very soft, curly hair after eight weeks
developed. The owner, Linda Koehl, gave them the name "Curly". This counts as the progenitor
of the La Perm cats. Curly was different from the other farm cats: she was very trusting.
Her puppies were all bald like Curly when she was born. After a while she realized
that the gene for curly hair is dominant and of the animals, whether male or
is inherited female.

Linda presented her La Perm cats at a show because they are Opinions
wanted to get from experts. To do this, she had to come up with a new name for her genetic
unique cats, after which they came up with the name `La Perm` (American

Breeding In the USA, where the La Perm originated, there are already some breeders

but there are only a few breeders all over the world

(Netherlands, Germany and Russia) of this breed.
The La Perm has a very small gene pool, which is why it is still approved
crossing them with other breeds. The curly coat gene is derived from the La Perm
Cat unlike other Rex cats except the Selkirk Rex for the most part
dominantly inherited.
When offspring of a LaPerm with a domestic cat or another cat breed
half of the offspring may have curly hair. Because a lot is still being crossed out at the moment,
quite a lot of smooth-haired La Perms are born. Other Approved Breeding Partners
(the domestic cat excepted) are the Tonkinese, Somali cat, Abyssinian cat, Thai cat,
Ocicat, Burmese cat and their semi-longhair variants. In addition, all other types
of the slightly eastern type approved.
