Od lo avdah tikvatenu
Hatikvah asked shnot alpayim:
Li`hyot am chofshi b`artzenu-
Eretz Tzion v`Yerushalayim.
German translation:
As long as it is still in the heart,
A Jewish soul resides.
And to the east, forward,
The eye looks to Zion.
As long as our hope is not lost,
That connected us for two thousand years:
To be a free people, in our country,
In the land of Zion and in Jirushalaim!
