Dancehall

Dancehall is a bass-heavy, aggressive, and up-tempo style of reggae featuring toasting, a chant on a note similar to hip-hop. Dancehall emerged in the late 80's. Originally, the term dancehall reggae did not describe an independent style, but simply the music that is played in Jamaican dancehalls, the venues for large dance parties, the so-called dances.
