PERSONAL DATA: |
|
NAME: | Nicholas Cage |
DATE OF BIRTH: | 7.1.1964 | PLACE OF BIRTH: | Long Beach, California, United States |
Career:
Nicolas Cage changed his surname to Cage due to the popularity of his uncle Francis Ford Coppola.
He wanted to make it in Hollywood on his own so he changed it after his favorite musician, John Cage.
At the age of 15, young Nicolas was already taking acting classes and even managed to earn his living after school by appearing on TV shows.
The most well-known films from that time were "Peggy Sue Has Married" from 1986, then "Wild At Heart - The Story of Sailor and Lula" in 1990 and above all "Tess and her Bodyguard" in 1994.
He received the Oscar for Best Actor in 1995 for the film "Leaving Las Vegas", an emotional alcohol drama.
However, Nicolas Cage only became known with his impressive action films such as "The Rock" alongside Sean Connery, "Con Air" in the role of a prisoner who wants to prevent an escape and above all through "Face-Off - In the Body of the Enemy". with John Travolta as an opponent.
In the romantic drama "City of Angels" he played the sensitive angel Seth alongside Meg Ryan, just one year later, only to take us shortly afterwards into the dark abysses of the human soul with the dark thriller "8 mm" in 1999 tempt.
In general, the film was well received, but according to viewers` opinions it was a bit too dark.
He then returned to the action genre in 2000 with the film Just 20 Seconds alongside Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie. The audience loved chic cars, beautiful women and speed. This well-tried recipe convinced the cinema audience and the fast-paced film became a success.
Another film followed in the same year with Nicolas Cage "Family Man", but this one was completely devoid of action but with a lot of heart.
Well, since every actor seems to have been in a war movie at some point, Nicolas Cage did it twice. 2001 in "Corelli`s Mandolin" and the year after in "Windtalkers". Both films were not really successful and actually completely unnecessary.
In 2003 he tried again with a genre change - and shines with the insane satire "Adaption" alongside Meryl Streep.
With the "Legacy of the Knights Templar" Nicolas Cage was up to date again in 2005 and in the cinema.
He proved to everyone that such roles are simply tailor-made for him.
The drama "The Weather Man", a family drama with depth, made him a weatherman or rather a weatherman.
In 2005, he surpassed his performances for a long time and was on the road as an arms dealer in our cinemas as "Lord of War".
You can call him one of the most versatile actors of our time and you never know what kind of film will come out next.
