Origin and History

The Wäller is a newly created breed of dog, but it is still under construction. Breeding began in 1994 under the leadership of Karin Wimmer-Kieckbusch. Crossing Briard and Australian Shepherd. The 1st Wäller Club Germany e.V. was founded in 1995. Particular importance was attached to health, character and performance, with beauty in this sense being secondary and subordinate to the other ideals. The appearance of the breed varies greatly, since inbreeding is avoided despite the small number of breeding animals. All adult Wallers intended to be bred with must pass a Breeding Qualification Test consisting of a health test, obedience and work performance.

Description

The breed has not yet fully consolidated. At the moment he is up to 60 cm tall and weighs up to 30 kg. The coat is also very different, from short-haired to shaggy everything is represented. However, attempts are being made to increasingly use those dogs that have a mustache in breeding. All coat colors as well as floppy or hanging ears are allowed for the Wäller.

Nature and use

The Waller is a sporty family dog ​​that is good and easy to lead, of good health, longevity and is easy to motivate. He is a dog that likes to work, like his ancestors, which means that he needs work, both mentally and physically. Although he is very spirited, he is not nervous, has an absolutely stable character, is fearless and very tolerant towards children. He is often wary of strangers, but should not be malicious.
