Origin and History

The Norrbottenspitz is an old farm dog in Sweden. He was used to hunt squirrels and game birds and guarded house and yard, he also pulled small wagons. In the meantime it has become rare even in its homeland. Around 1948 it was thought to be extinct, but it has been reborn since 1967 thanks to the efforts of breeders.

Description

The breed standard for the Norrbottenspitz is 43 cm tall and weighs 15 kg. Its fur is hard, short, straight and rather close-lying, with a fine and dense undercoat, in many colors, but shades of white are preferred. The ears of the Norrbottenspitz are high set, stiff and pointing forward, the tail set high, carried in a fairly high arc and loosely curled.
