Venereology
Venereology (Latin: venus = lust for love, pleasure in love, lógos = teaching) is the study of sexually transmitted diseases, which used to be referred to as "venereal diseases" when it was believed that transmission was only possible through sexual intercourse.
It is a part of dermatology, since many of the classic forms of these diseases manifest themselves on the skin.
Some, in turn, specialized in examining the ejaculate, which laid the foundation for andrological departments in dermatology clinics and andrologically trained dermatologists, although today urologists and internists also claim this field for themselves.
