Hinduism

Hinduism is one of the largest (approx. 900 million followers) and oldest world religions.

Its origin is in India. Vedas are called the oldest sacred scriptures of Hinduism. A closer look at Hinduism reveals that it is not a question of a single religious community, but rather of many closely linked religious communities.

The spiritual concerns and concepts of God as well as the views of life, death and redemption are also very different in the respective currents. Most followers of Hinduism, called Hindus, believe in rebirth (reincarnation).

The religious teachers, the gurus, are very much revered by the followers and have a high priority for them. From among the many gods, the follower of Hinduism chooses his god to worship. Even if theology and philosophy of the different faiths do not agree, the Hindus still pray and celebrate together.

Temples tend to be visited alone, but rituals and celebrations mostly take place in the family circle. Above all, nature is very strongly included in the religious life of the Hindu.

For him, the different deities are only an expression and manifestation of the individual divine aspects. Other religions such as Buddhism have also developed from Hinduism, which can still be seen in many temples in Nepal.
