Front thunderstorms

front thunderstorms occur on cold air fronts, the so-called boundaries to approaching cold air. They usually cover a very long distance with them.
They are called year-round thunderstorms because they can occur at any time of the year.
During a frontal thunderstorm, rising air movements come about. The lifting processes that result from the air mass changes are responsible for this.
In principle, during frontal thunderstorms, the cold air masses push themselves under the warming layers of air near the ground, which are then forced to rise.
Sometimes there is also the other case, a thermal thunderstorm when a warm front is approaching.
However, the thunderstorm towers that reach far into the sky do not develop as quickly as with cold air fronts.
Frontal thunderstorms indicate the intrusion of other air masses and initiate the usual weather change.
It can happen very quickly that in summer in middle mountain areas the temperatures can suddenly change from sunshine to snow and cold.
