Mountains

Mountains are large and massive elevations in terrain. They are usually formed as a result of plate tectonics on Earth or by a volcano. If two tectonic plates move against each other, mountains are formed, which are characterized by their rugged shape and height. Milder forms emerge with increasing geological age and erosion. The mountains of the German low mountain range are a good example of this.
