Career
Dolph Lundgren was born and raised in Stockholm. In his youth, the 1.94 tall Lundgren studied at the Royal Institute Of Technology.
He is credited with a very high intelligence quotient, which, at 160, is reserved for only a few people in the world.
He has practiced martial arts since he was 14 years old. His sporting achievements include:
- Captain of the Swedish Full Contact Karate Team
- European champion in full contact karate
- Australian Champion and European Champion in Karate (Heavyweight)
- Captain of the US Olympic Modern Pentathlon Team 1996 (Atlanta)
- Vice World Champion in Kyokushinkai Karate
- Third dan holder (black belt)
He received his master`s degree in chemistry from Sydney in 1982 and the following year received a Fulbright scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
In addition to his studies, the Swede advertises your picture book body as a model for sporting goods, but he has bigger goals than that, he wants to be an actor.
So he broke off his studies and went to Hollywood to realize his dream.
He was discovered while working as a bouncer at New York`s hip disco Limelight.
His appearance was perfect and the best prerequisite for a career in action films. He started out as Grace Jones` bodyguard and got his first small role in a James Bond 007: A View to a Kill.
His angular face and impressive height of 1.95 meters earned him other roles thereafter, such as his first big screen debut as the fearsome Russian kickboxer and Silvester Stallone`s antagonist in Rocky 4.
He then starred as the superhero He-Man in the high-tech fairy tale Master of The Universe.
"Maximum Potential" became one of his best-selling training videos in 1987 and was even available in Germany.
He then flexed his muscles on screen in other action films such as The Punisher, , Dark Angel, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Red Scorpion and Cover Up.
He was also convincing as an opponent of Jean-Claude van Damme in the Roland Emmerich film Universal Soldier.
Dolph Lundgren performs at the theater with his team from the Group of Eight in New York and has also founded a production company Thor Pictures.
Their first thriller is being planned, called Pentathlon.
