Violin case

The violin case (violin case) serves to protect and safely transport the violin. Nowadays there are a variety of different violin cases. They differ in price and quality. In general, there are two different types that can be distinguished, the violin-shaped case and the Hill model. The Hill model has the advantage of offering far more space for accessories such as a shoulder rest or violin strings. With both models there are of course qualitatively better or worse versions. The features, quality and design of the violin case ultimately determine the price. Quality features of a good violin case are air humidifier, suspension and hygrometer. Various materials are used for production, plywood was previously the classic material for violin case construction. Recently there are also models made of fiberglass, these are very light and durable. The prices for violin cases start at around €100 in the lower price segment. However, these then have no slider bearing, only a few accessory compartments and no hygrometer. From 150 € you get the higher-quality models with a suspension, hygrometer, air humidifier, several bow holders and a velvet cover. However, there are no upper price limits for unusual requests.
