Verbs are so-called action or verb words. They indicate an activity, a process or a state.

Infinitive: go, play
Present participle: going, playing
Past participle: gone, played

Present tense: I read
Past tense: I read
Perfect: I read
Pluperfect: I had read
Future tense I: I will read

Indicative: I write Subjunctive: I wrote

E. Progenitors:
Weak verbs: The stem vowel (ie, ei, au) remains the same in all three forms

    Example:
  • play, played, played
  • believe, believed, believed

Strong Verbs: The stem vowel changes in all three forms

    Example:
  • go, went, gone
  • sing, sang, sung

Auxiliary verbs: be, have, become
Modal verbs: should, like, may, must, can, want
Verbs are inflectable and conjugated words.
