Software

Software, which means "soft goods" can be found in every technical device that has at least one microprocessor. In contrast to hardware (e.g. monitor, computer, printer ...) it is not tangible because it is an immaterial component. The term software can be divided into two areas, namely the area of system software on the one hand and the term application software on the other.
The system software ensures that a system with a microprocessor (e.g. computer, mobile phone, etc.) works correctly. On the PC, this would be the so-called operating system. Without this system, the computer would not function properly. Another example of system software would be the device driver, which enables hardware (scanners, printers, digital cameras, etc.) to be used with the computer.
The application software only comes into play when the system is functioning correctly. It can then be installed by the user and supports them in completing their tasks. There is a suitable software for every task. Whether you want to write a letter or edit a picture, everything is supported by the right software. The selection here is very large. Application software can also be divided into paid software and so-called open source software, which can be purchased free of charge on the Internet.
