SMS (Short Message Service, >>short message service <<) is a term in the telecommunications industry. It describes a fee-based service for sending short written messages that contain a maximum of 160 characters. The messages can either be sent from cell phone to cell phone via the cell phone network or from computer to cell phone via the Internet They are collected in the SMS center of the respective provider and then distributed from there to the individual mobile networks.
