Port
A port is an input or output of a device, which can be a connection point for a peripheral device or devices or for an application program. It can be logical, physical, or both. The following 3 points can be called a port:
- a connection socket
- a logical access point to a device on a network
- a program that was originally written for a special computer environment and was subsequently adapted, i.e. ported, to another processor type or another operating system.
