Nokia

Finnish manufacturer Nokia has undergone a number of significant changes of direction during its long history. The company was founded in 1865 in Espoo, Finland. In addition to rubber and other chemicals, rubber boots were among the most important products. In 1912 cables were finally added and the "Finnish Cable Works" were founded. In doing so, Nokia also supported the spread of the completely new communication medium, the telephone. Finally, in 1960, the original paper mill, the Finnish Rubber Works and the Finnish Cable Works merged into one company and the Nokia Corporation was born. In 1963 the first radio telephones were developed and made ready for the market. Finally, in 1987, Nokia introduced the first portable mobile phone. Ever since then, Nokia has been relentlessly building its way to the top of the global mobile communications market. In addition to mobile phones and set-top boxes, the Finnish company Nokia also offers services and network infrastructure for mobile phone providers.
