Link (hyperlink)

In computer science, a link (connection) is a reference to another document. Such a reference is correctly called a hyperlink, because in the age of the WWW (World Wide Web) data is transmitted using the http (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) and this is how this link can be followed using the hypertext. The hyperlink then makes it possible to go from web page to web page on the WWW simply by clicking on it. You can recognize such links by moving the mouse over a text and the mouse pointer turns into a small hand. Hyperlinks are usually also underlined or marked with a roll-over effect. Of course, not only text can be linked, but also images.
Forwarding through the link is possible because it contains the target address (address of the website to which the link was created) as a URL (Uniform Resource Locator).
