Injection
The transition between a slow injection and an infusion is fluid. Compared to the infusion, the injection has a very short time frame. The application of manual pressure via the syringe plunger is also a distinctive feature of the injection. In the case of infusions, manual printing only takes place in exceptional cases.
In an injection, dissolved medicine is injected into the body using a hypodermic syringe and needle. The injection is mainly given under the skin (subcutaneous injection), into a muscle (intramuscular injection) or into a vein, often in the crook of the elbow (intravenous injection). Through an injection, the medication bypasses the gastrointestinal tract and enters the bloodstream more quickly and safely.
