Design

The term design comes from English usage, and this in turn was derived from the Latin (designare = to draw) derived. In the English language, the term design means "design" or "draft", in contrast to the German usage, in which the term is more associated with the "artistic" aspects. So the "pure" design of utility and production models and their results. The term design serves as an umbrella term, it can of course be differentiated into several sub-areas such as industrial design or graphic design . Industrial design focuses on the design (product design) adapted to production and consumers, while graphic design focuses on the 2-dimensional design of print media, advertising, corporate identity or information systems.

Although design is to be regarded as a scientific activity, it cannot be precisely defined as is the case with other sciences, for example in mathematics or physics. The biggest difference within the design is the separation between theory and Practice . There are a variety of Design Theories , but these can only be applied very minimally in practice, as they are often very abstract and unconventional. The theory is more concerned with explaining and capturing design practice.
