Cordless screwdriver

A cordless screwdriver is a device with which screwing and drilling work can be carried out independently of the mains power supply. So-called accumulators make this possible. These are batteries that can be recharged with electricity. This allows you to work freely even under the most difficult conditions. The cordless screwdriver is one of the most common cordless tools. The latest generation of cordless screwdrivers have so-called quick-release fasteners. In contrast to the drill chuck, these enable the drill bit to be changed quickly and without any tools. A wide range of accessories offers enough freedom to enable creative work. For example, in combination with a Phillips bit and the associated Torx screws, you can quickly attach components to one another without damaging the screw head.

In the meantime, the design with a T-handle has prevailed among cordless screwdrivers. Older cordless screwdrivers still have a pistol grip similar to that of a drill. The latest innovation in cordless screwdrivers is the light function, which provides enough light even in a dark working environment

The newer generations of cordless screwdrivers have lithium-ion batteries, which are preferred by well-known brand manufacturers.

Cheap providers usually still use the now outdated NiCD or NiMH cell batteries.

The most important comparative data for cordless screwdrivers are the maximum torque, the battery voltage and the battery capacity, measured in ampere hours (Ah).

There are different types of cordless screwdrivers:

Cordless screwdriver:

The cordless screwdriver usually has only one gear and has low, continuously adjustable speeds.

Cordless drill/driver:

The cordless drill/driver usually has a two-speed gearbox with low and high speeds of the drill chuck and has a higher torque.

Angle cordless screwdriver:

The drill chuck of an angle cordless screwdriver is angled by 90° to be able to work in hard-to-reach places.

Articulated screwdriver:

The articulated screwdriver is a small, handy device that is mainly used for assembly work. The handle can be bent at the back to work in the tightest of spaces.

Rod screwdriver:

The straight wrench is very similar to the articulated wrench but does not have an adjustable handle. The battery is usually not replaceable.

Cordless Impact Wrench:

The cordless impact wrench is mainly used in the car or other machine areas. It has a very high torque.

Cordless impact drill:

The cordless impact drill has an impact function using ratchet discs. It is intended for drilling in stone material.

Cordless rotary hammer:

The cordless rotary hammer has a pneumatic impact mechanism and the SDS-plus drill chuck.
